About the product

“Anatomy of a Fairy Tale” is the first comprehensive monograph on the work of artist Andreas Greiner. Time-based and living sculptures, as well as photographic and filmic works, form the focus of his artistic practice. He makes experimental use of technical, scientific processes and integrates natural organisms, such as algae, insects or bacteria, as co-authors of his artworks. In this way, Andreas Greiner’s approach reflexively centers attention on man’s relationship to his environment, which is today natural and artificial in equal part. As a direct continuation of his artistic practice, texts drawing on a variety of disciplines elucidate the given range of topics, in order to develop novel questions within the respective fields of knowledge. At the same time, his understanding of an extended concept of art is continued in the graphic and material formal principles of the book, which explore it in diverse ways in its essence as a sculptural object.
