About the product

“Ich bin alles zugleich” looks at self-portrayals in art, bringing together different perspectives and interpretations from the 19th century up until the present day.

The journey starts with Egon Schiele’s view of himself. Since the work of this world-class artist from Lower Austria, self-portrayals of this kind have succeeded in looking behind the human façade and revealing role-play, people’s states of mind and artistic strategies. Self-portrayal is a very important subject for Landessammlungen Niederösterreich, meaning that a first-class cross-section of Austrian creative work has been assembled, complemented by important works from numerous museums and private collections.

The exhibition and publication bring together works by Egon Schiele, Oskar Kokoschka, Richard Gerstl, Irene Andessner, Renate Bertlmann, Adolf Frohner, Gelatin, Gottfried Helnwein, Birgit Jürgensen, Elke Krystufek, Hermann Nitsch, Arnulf Rainer, Oswald Tschirtner, August Walla and many others.
