About the product
Light and fire are key elements Sandra Kranich (born 1971) uses to create the objects, sculptures and reliefs. She is a trained pyrotechnician and outfits her seemingly minimalist aluminum structures with complex pyrotechnical components that function as integral parts of her artistic process.
The ignition of a firework sparks various metamorphoses in the emergence of each image — from 2D drawing through fleeting 3D light composition to the “traces of smoke” on abstract paintings. In this way, Kranich’s pieces reference a notion of the artwork in which construction and destruction, control and chance are closely bound up with each other.
