This explains why all the works were first created in her studio. The drawings represent daily exercises in which she attempts to strike a balance between the representational idea and nonrepresentational appearance. One characteristic of her work is the blurring of media she employs: While many oil paintings recall drawings or watercolors some of the enormous canvases affixed directly to the wall are painted in such an impasto style as to almost resemble sculptures.
The publication appeared to mark Elisabeth Strässle’s first solo exhibition in a museum, namely Kunstmuseum Solothurn.
