The history of Galerie Klein, from 1970 – 2006 in Bonn and from summer 1994 in Bad Münstereifel-Mutscheid, is full of anecdotes that make it clear that Erhard Klein and his artists did not have a formal, distanced business relationship, but rather were close, long-time friends. A great number of editions and artworks were the product of this. Thus, for example, Martin Kippenberger’s and Albert Oehlen’s multiple ERHARD KLEIN VOLLKONZENTRIERT was a reaction to a piece by Joseph Beuys, which triggered a whole series of multiple-reactions, reported on by collector Reiner Speck. Other of the gallery owner’s artist friends are also discussed: Felix Droese, Georg Herold, Jürgen Klauke, Imi Knoebel, Blinky Palermo, Sigmar Polke, Ulrich Rückriem and Katharina Sieverding.
