Anyone who looks at a face is aiming to get a picture of the other person. The international group exhibition "Face it! In Monologue with the Other" at the Kunstmuseum Ravensburg, based on 34 artistic positions, focuses on the face as an interface between the "I" and the "Other", as a place of showing and hiding, staging and retreat. In a dialogue between works of the early 20th century and contemporary artists, as well as in conjunction with the Selinka Collection of the Kunstmuseum Ravensburg, the face becomes a stage for emotions that are molded by the respective self-image and social conventions. With the thematic emphases: "Privatim: Sleep-Ecstasy-Death", "Beyond Dichotomous Role Models", "Expressive Play of the Physiognomy" as well as "Mirrorings and Doppelgängers", the exhibition examines the face in the field of tension between self-image and alien image as well as social codes.
