Awarded at “Schönste Bücher Österreichs 2023"

Heinz Wäger's significance for Vorarlberg's more recent design and architectural history, which has now spanned 60 years, is not superficial, but manifold. In any case, a lot of things took place in cooperative and interconnected movements that hardly knew any singular historical bearers. To this day, this remarkable history of design and architecture eludes all manifestos and academic theories. This makes Heinz Wäger's contribution as an idea carrier all the more important. His socialization at the University of Design in Ulm formed an internationally positionable starting point from which, since 1960, his work over five decades of cultural and architectural history has contributed to the diverse fields of application of design and built discourse in Vorarlberg.
