This publication was released on the occasion of the exhibition by Vienna-based artist and publisher Josef Zekoff at the Sunday-S Gallery in Copenhagen. The catalog documents 19 works by Zekoff from the years 2015 to 2018, which at first glance stand out for their symbolic nature and the impossibility of their interpretation. Even on close inspection, the works elude any clear explanation. They are kept predominantly in gray, black and white tones applied to canvas, cardboard or paper, bear no title, and offer observers no clear reading. They trigger associations with ornaments, labyrinths or digestive organs, while in other works stick-figure-like faces appear in profile, bearing the title “Untitled (Alexanderkopf)” whereby the reference to the “head of Alexander” is a possible allusion to ancient Roman iconography.
