The year of lockdown was an occasion for Markus Redl to undertake a journey in the smallest radius and to deal with the objects that surrounded him. What do these things tell us about ourselves? Objects in the apartment, the workshop, found objects on the way to the grocery store, were the attractions, the points of view and vanishing points and the many bases for telling stories that things are about.
Drawing, characters, writing, a volume of stories in pictures, in which text and picture flow into one another, culminate into a "dreaming-in", where the real and the unreal can no longer be clearly separated from one another. An exercise in seeing, as the basis for storytelling, and which no longer can limit a thoughtful language to writing and text. The publication shows cycles of drawings from the last five years (2015-2020), most of them from 2020.
