Martin Walde (born in 1957) has been engaged in broadening the meaning of the terms art and nature since the 1980s. At his Dornbirn art space rampant growth is artificially produced and natural growth
stylized in the manner of architecture. Substances are taken to the limits of their material states and imagination lent wings by means of poetic assertions about pixie dust. A couple of weather balloons are
transformed into bizarre beings, everyday things into giant flowers. Martin Walde transforms the art space into a garden full of different cultures that is strangely reminiscent of an artificial world. (Severin Dünser)
