"The exhibition Performing the Border, curated by Petra Poelzl and Jana J. Haeckel, discusses the fragile concept of national in- and exclusion and frames the dubious categories of “own” and “foreign”. Where are the borders of a borderless digitalized, globalized world? Aren’t dismantled borders building new borders? How much absurdity but also suffering do borders cause? And just how many borders do humans need? In poetic to very personal approaches, with provocative and ruthless but also humorous artistic statements, the selected works by artists from European, Arab, Asian, and South American countries explore the meaning of political, territorial, and emotional borders."
