Rachel Lumsden’s large-format paintings are too ambiguous to be clearly read as narratives; instead they depict atmospheric environments, bristling with energy. Her compositions are inspired by a variety of visual sources, from newspaper photos, art historical images and dream pictures to circuit diagrams and advertising material. The publication includes works from the last ten years and appeared on the occasion of her exhibition at Fondation Fernet-Branca, Saint-Louis, France, the ArtCentre Pasquart Biel, Switzerland and Kunst(Zeug)Haus Rapperswil.
