Kunsthaus Stade is now presenting a comprehensive exhibition for the first time, with works from all creative phases of his rich oeuvre – a “home game” for the Hamburg-based artist Thorsten Brinkmann. The publication accompanies the exhibition.
Numerous awards and solo shows in Belgium, the Netherlands, Mexico, Ireland, the USA and Switzerland bear witness to the high regard that Thorsten Brinkmann’s work enjoys globally. In Germany however, there have been only few institutional solo shows to date. Kunsthaus Stade is now presenting a comprehensive exhibition for the first time, with works from all creative phases of his rich oeuvre – a “home game” for the Hamburg-based artist. Over 60 works will be on show that address in particular the relationship between body and object, including several that were specially produced for the Kunsthaus exhibition. The title, “Life is funny, my deer”, is to be understood as programmatic: The artist explores the fun in art, ambiguous body-object hybrids and dialog with visitors. The publication accompanies the exhibition.
