Pierre-Olivier Arnaud (*1972, living and working in Lyon) created the poster "sans titre (Auge II)" from a found image of a closed eye. It is a stock photograph, which was presented in the vitrine of a shop where Arnaud took a photo of it. The closed eye of a woman is one of those motives which is used globally to advertise a certain kind of beauty standard and to evoke the feeling of relaxation and wellness.
In photographing it together with the adjacent borders of other photographs and even with a light reflection of the vitrine, which was in front of it, Arnaud transforms this random motif into a specific one. In a typical way for his work of art, which spans photographs, posters and magazines, Arnaud is questioning here the status of the image, its means of production and distribution.
