About the product
This artist’s book is based on a series of photographs entitled “Similes” consisting of 28 images of nebulae staged in the artist’s studio. In the second section of the book these staged images are contrasted with 28 real photos of this kind of celestial phenomenon. The images used as the starting point – all of them Messier objects (astronomical objects cataloged by the French astronomer Messier) – are gradually deconstructed.
The text by David Komary and Andreas Müller looks at the analogy between Derrida’s empty sign and black holes as structuring elements, a subject that has, as yet, to be researched.
