About the product

Both the relationships between the two artistic positions, their overlaps and their respective individuality are revealed. The title “Montevideo” is not to be seen as a reference to the capital of Uruguay, rather it plays with the energy of the word itself, which also echoes dimensions of the visual and media.

Their multi-layered analysis of social roles and gender stereotypes is further deepened by the ambitious collections Annette and Erasmus Schröter have compiled over the course of many years. The objects of everyday culture are closely linked to the artists’ work and biographies – and reflect the topical, atmospheric and formal statements made by their paintings, papercuts, and photographs.
