About the product

Since the 1990s, Scottish metropolis Glasgow has been developing into a vibrant center for the fine arts. At the heart of this development is the renowned Glasgow School of Art. The school is alma mater to artists such as Douglas Gordon and Martin Boyce who won the renowned Turner Prize in 1996 and 2011 respectively and others whose work has been on display at the Biennale in Venice.

“Funktion / Dysfunktion” presents works in which elements of design are included and shapes taken from applied art integrated into the relevant artistic productions. Design objects are even referenced directly or everyday utility items integrated into the works. Materials from industrial manufacturing may be used, as may arts and crafts techniques. This practice has engendered contextualized installations and installations that can be experienced directly. The publication is based on the exhibition at Neues Museum in Nuremberg, one of a series of exhibitions going by the name of /prospekt /.
