About the product
Loredana Sperini (born in Wattwil in 1970) has come to public attention with her small-format portraits of friends in which she has transferred the process of image conception to the traditional medium of embroidery. An interest in textile materials led her to try out the kind of encaustic painting that fills entire walls and to produce large-format works on mirrors as well as small sculptures.
The publication “True Blue” combines examples of her recent work with new pieces produced specially for the exhibition. These include both large-scale installations and multipart groups of works. Sculptures made of ceramics, concrete, wax and bronze illustrate her experimental, explorative approach to all kinds of materials and combinations of materials. Sperini is adept at translating these autonomous formal creative processes into wondrous pictorial worlds. In her work “Untitled” (2016) the pigment is combined both with the finely crystalline material of wax and with the hard-wearing material concrete to create abstract wall-based objects featuring fascinating colors.
